Did you know: As many as 17,069 people turn to a food bank in our community monthly? And that 36% are children under the age of 18?
Here at Stoney Creek Furniture, we are passionate about about helping our community. This is why we’re supporting Hamilton Food Share, to ensure that no one in our great community go to bed hungry.
Since 1990, the Hamilton Food Share organization has supported hunger relief by supplying needed food provisions, hot meal programs and short-term storage to food banks. Hamilton Food Share relies on the support of area businesses and donations to make a difference in the Hamilton community so all members can have access to safe, adequate and appropriate food options.
Since their inception 20 years ago, food banks have experienced many changes. Food banks were originally created to solve temporary emergencies. As incomes recede and financial troubles increase, food banks have become the last resort before homelessness. Twenty years later, low-income families are living in crisis and are at great risk of losing their housing. Many families today rely heavily on food banks in order to meet their current economic difficulties.
Hamilton Food Share’s allocation resources assists with the costs for food programs and redirect these savings for improvement. They also work collaboratively in our community to bring awareness of hunger. It is vital that we support these efforts so that no one has to worry about tomorrow’s meals.
Come support our community and help end hunger at Stoney Creek Furniture’s Inside Out Home Show on Thursday, March 20 from 5:30-9pm. In lieu of an admission fee, please share your good fortune by making a donation to Hamilton Food Share. Every $1 raised equals $5 worth of food. Thank you!
